Learning agile ways of working: Self-paced online courses and live trainings

The year 2020 probably hit everyone unexpectedly and with immense effects on private and professional life. Worldwide. The COVID19 pandemic showed everyone relentlessly and directly missed digital chances and deficiencies. – So also us.

The Agile Academy is a platform for agile training and education. Until March 2020, these training and education courses took place worldwide in on-site trainings and in small groups of up to 20 people. The Scrum Alliance, as a globally recognized certification provider, even specified this. All certification trainings had to take place in person and on site. No matter if this agile training took place in Boston, Berlin or Brisbane.

At the beginning of March 2020, this situation changed almost overnight and gave us the chance to open ourselves to new things.

Remote courses within a sprint

Within one week, in the course of a sprint, we as Scrum Academy managed to completely reinvent the training and to switch to remote training. For this we needed technical innovations and above all the permission of the Scrum Alliance.

Directly after the “go” of the organization we could start with the digitalization of our trainings. Since then we are not only in a very lean Build-Measure-Learn process, but also in the continuous improvement of our offers.

After more than 5,000 successful certifications on site, it was a matter of heart for us to give the participants the same feeling online.
Over the course of a week, we tested a variety of tools and programs to deliver the best remote experience the participants were used to.

And if you believe the positive feedback from our remote trainings, we succeeded with the remote trainings as well.

Self-Paced Online Courses, starting 2021

COVID19 will almost certainly accompany us in 2021 and beyond. Reason enough for us to think about how we can accompany this challenge also further and above all holistically.

After all, the guiding principle of the Scrum Academy is not just a phrase.

To make this happen, we have decided to start the year 2021 with a new product. At the beginning of the year we published our curated agile online courses. These online courses give you the chance to learn at your own pace and at any time. You can choose from the well-known Journeys and train as a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Agile Leader with our online courses.

E-Learning as a tool for further education

For us the online courses are the next logical step on the way to accompany you comprehensively on your agile way. Our goal is not to train you to become a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Agile Leader in 3 days or to teach you the tools you need for an agile transformation. Both the Scrum Academy as a company and the Agile Academy as a platform have the goal to support and accompany you and your companions in many ways.

In addition to the monthly free agile100, a conference with the world’s most renowned agile experts, who will bring you a lot of knowledge and Scrum Education Units (SEUs) for your recertification, we are constantly building on our knowledge area and our Agile Lexicon.

For us the online courses and the occupation with E-Learning and Learning Management Systems (LMS) are the next logical step on our way to accompany you holistically and comprehensively on your agile journey.

Structure, timing and topics of our online courses

At the moment we are working hard on the curriculum of the courses that our Certified Scrum Trainer Sohrab Salimi has prepared for you. We create videos, exam questions, additional materials and of course a certification certificate for you.

First we will focus on what we know and offer you online courses for Scrum Master, Product Owner and Agile Leader. But step by step we will also expand this offer. So we plan to bring you closer to our years of expertise and our proximity to the agile experts of the agile100. Agile in Pharma? Agile in Sales? Agile in Automotive Development? These are all topics and subtopics that we are now planning to make available to you step by step.

Our Goal in 2021: Everything agile

Our goal is to find a way to anchor and promote agile thinking in companies in a “remote first” society. We would like to support this through our three pillars: live online training, online conference and self-paced online courses.

In addition, with the knowledge area we offer a possibility for self-determined learning. Here we offer freely accessible content as a contribution or video, which contributes to the three pillars and includes, for example, video recordings of the conference or teaching materials from the training and courses.Finally, the foundation is provided by our constantly growing knowledge area as well as the agile lexicon and the Scrum Guide.
