Markus Schmotz

Markus is a physicist turned Agile-Lean catalyst who believes that understanding systems starts with understanding people. "Contrary to the archetypal image of physicists with corduroy trousers and knitted sweaters, I love working with people. Physics has taught me to think in systems—and people always form complex systems."

He has spent over 15 years in leadership roles across diverse organizational formats and value chains. His work spans introducing Agile ways of working to teams, leading a global Lean & Leadership transformation impacting 30 production sites and 4,500 people, training over 200 leaders and managers, and saving a company from closure through strategic transformation.

Markus was also the driving force behind a group-wide culture initiative and coached the C-level team of one of Europe’s most influential transportation companies in Business Agility and Flight Levels. He now works in the sweet spot between Agile, Lean, and Leadership—combining the best of all three worlds to help companies reach a state of flow, effectiveness, and sustainable success.

Outside of work, Markus enjoys spending time with his lively family, chairs a local tennis club, and is passionate about cooking, heavy metal music, and epic fantasy literature.
