Pascal Gugenberger
Pascal Gugenberger is an Agile Leadership Journey Guide and transformation architect with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, teams, and entire organizations on their journey to agility. Currently Product Area Lead AI at Colenet GmbH in Munich, Pascal works at the intersection of engineering, leadership, and organizational transformation—helping companies delight customers with superior products while creating work environments where employees thrive and contribute their full potential. His expertise spans diverse industries including finance, insurance, energy, and automotive, working with organizations from startups to Fortune 500 corporations. Pascal's unique strength lies in combining deep technical knowledge as a former software engineer with sophisticated leadership development and coaching capabilities.
Pascal's agile journey began in the early 2000s while working as a developer and lead developer at a small web content management company. His team struggled between chaos without process and heavyweight methods that didn't work. A colleague handed him Ken Schwaber's "Agile Project Management with Scrum," which led him to training with Joseph Pelrine. His first Scrum implementation was messy—but within just two hours, it helped his team avoid several days of wasted work by making one misunderstanding visible. That experience shaped his philosophy: it wasn't the tool, it was the shift in conversation, the ability to see something early, and the space to speak up. This sparked a passion for helping others work better together, which he began sharing through meetups, internal trainings, and eventually consulting to broaden his perspective.
Pascal's AI expertise runs particularly deep. His diploma thesis at Humboldt University of Berlin explored distributed agent-oriented systems, laying groundwork for his current work at the cutting edge of AI and organizational development. Since 2025, he has shaped the strategic development of Colenet's AI business unit, developing innovative consulting and training offerings that support companies in successfully integrating AI. He led the German-language AI Leadership Lab in 2024—a six-month leadership journey exploring how AI transforms leadership and enhances human connection. His innovative approaches include developing AI-Crews for human-centered AI integration. Pascal believes AI's most exciting aspect isn't automation but amplification—offering different perspectives, helping leaders reflect and spar with new ideas. Used wisely, AI becomes a tool for deeper awareness, not distance. He now leads Agile Academy's Agile AI learning track, teaching that the future belongs to humans who use AI to become more human, not less.
As a Licensed Agile Leadership Journey Guide, systemischer Business Coach (ACSTH of ICF), and trainer since 2018, Pascal offers the complete Scrum Alliance learning path—from beginner level (CSM, CSPO) through advanced (A-CSM, A-CSPO) to expert level (CSP-SM, CSP-PO). As a former software engineer, he also offers the Certified Scrum Developer pathway. Pascal regularly publishes on the Colenet blog about Scrum in practice, Agile Leadership themes, and AI integration. His philosophy emphasizes that true change comes from within—it's not just about methods but primarily about people, finding the right mix of empathy and courage, giving space and providing direction. He actively contributes to developing Scrum Alliance training materials and serves as an Agile Academy Ambassador. Pascal's approach bridges technical excellence with organizational culture, always focusing on what enables people rather than what controls them, believing true leadership removes obstacles rather than motivating people.
